The Iowa Initiative for Artificial Intelligence (IIAI) has been formally established and supported by internal Provost funding effective May 1, 2019.

Its main goals are to:

1. Enhance UI’s research competitiveness and enable new research endeavors by providing collaboration/consulting services by dedicated experts who will support integration of AI and machine learning into proposals for researchers ranging from AI novice to experienced.
2. Increase availability of campus-wide AI-specific computational environments with effective administrative structure – building on the successful model of High Performance Computing on campus and leveraging existing funding.
